The Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport follows a strong trend in the automotive industry. Indeed, commercial vehicles receive a cosmetic treatment that essentially aims to cut the rear. Thus, a version of the SUV was born: the coupé. This mode is highly valued by the German manufacturers BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz. Volkswagen is no exception. In fact, despite its small size, the Atlas Cross Sport offers many advantages.
Here, the Cross Sport is just an Atlas that retains much of the same strengths. The Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is, in fact, an Atlas with only two rows of seats and a few inches shorter. And it costs less. In fact, the same two engines equip the vehicle. Four versions are offered: Trendline, Comfortline, Highline and Execline. This vehicle offers a lot of space, especially for the rear seats. Despite its truncated rear, the loading capacity is remarkable. Plus, rear passengers have more legroom than the stretched Atlas. Two engines are offered for the Atlas Cross Sport: 2.0-liter 4-cylinder producing 235horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque and 3.6-liter V6 of 276 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. The 6-cylinder is optional with the Comfortline livery and standard for the Highline. Either way, an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission is mated to Volkswagen's MOTION all-wheel drive. This four-wheel-drive system shifts torque to the rear as needed by the vehicle. The Cross Sport is not a pickup truck, but it is capable of towing up to 5000lbs. This is more than enough to pull a small boat or a trailer.
As standard, the Atlas Cross Sport comes with a full list of equipment. Indeed, the Trendline model is equipped with 18-inch rims, heated front seats, integration of Apple CarPlay or Android Auto technology, Front Assist device and autonomous emergency braking system, LED headlights and the automatic engine stop device with regenerative braking. The Comfortline version adds an 8-inch screen for the information and entertainment system, automatic climate control, Car-Net connectivity, automatic dimming rear-view mirror and high-comfort seats. For the Highline model, Volkswagen offers a premium Fender audio system, adaptive cruise control and leather sports seats in the front, among others.
